A variety of stone can be found there: a special kind of granite, gneiss and further downstream marble (where there was a quarry in Roman times), amphibolite, serpentine, eclogite and some others. There is a highly interesting and educational trail leading through the gorge; it is very attractive beacuse of its rewarding views, the rich variety of stone and examples of rare plants.
