Pohorje is full of streams, some of which have created deep gorges such as the Bistrica gorge, which was created by the Bistrica stream and is a geomorphological natural monument. The source of the Bistrica stream is in the village of Bojtina, from where it flows downhill forming numerous rapids and waterfalls. An interesting hiking and educational trail leads through the gorge (Roman quarry, Šum waterfall, Štampohar mill, various rock-types, rare plants...), providing hikers with the opportunity to encounter various rock-types and rare plant species. A visit to the gorge is interesting regardless of the season.
