The church stands at the location of an older, medieval church built quite some time before 1395. The two side chapels were added in the second half of the 18^th century. The present church is built in the typical early Baroque style. Together with the graveyard enclosed by a wall and solid portal, it forms an architectural whole. Next to the church, there is a tomb of Slomšek´s patron, a parish priest Jakob Prašnikar.
