The cornerstone was blessed in June 2002, and the new church was consecrated as early as September 2003. It was designed by Dr. Jože Marinko. The church is simple and its brightness is what makes it appealing. It is similar to the early Christian basilicas in its simplicity: there is a portico at the entrance, the church has three naves, daylight is allowed to pass through the windows of the nave unobstructed, and there is a presbytery and a chapel opposite the entrance. The 15 Stations of the Cross are the work of Lojze Čemažar, an academically trained artist.
