Areas of prehistoric and Roman trails are among the most important archaelogical monuments. The finds from the forest of Velenik (Roman road, graves, stone axes, Roman money etc.) indicate that the road connecting Slovenska Bistrica (Civitas Negotiana) and Ptuj (Poetovio) was very busy. A permanent collection of items connected with Roman roads can be seen at the Slovenska Bistrica Castle.
