The Cultural Institute was founded in 1996 because of the need for implementing numerous cultural activities. Its headquarters are located in the castle.

The institute is engaged in museum and exhibition activity, it carries out the restoration and preservation of natural and cultural monuments, organizes cultural and other public events, performs pedagogical and publishing activities as well as connects with tourist and other cultural operators. In addition to the 15 permanent museum collections that are on display at the castle's premises, you can also visit the castle wine cellar and the castle kitchen, which were furnished within the cross-border project Via Savaria. Through this project, they are also connected with the path of St. Martin, which is part of the Saint Martin of Tours European cultural route.
