It's summer in Budapest. High school student Abel has trouble focusing on his final exams, but he also realizes that he is hopelessly in love with his best friend Janka. Hardworking Janka also suffers from unrequited love for the married history teacher Jakab, who once had a fight with Abel's reactionary father. The tensions of a divided society unexpectedly come to the surface when Abel's history final exam turns into a national scandal.
